  • "Browning®" profile sheaves and sprockets were originally created by the Browning® Manufacturing Company, currently owned by Regal Rexnord, which utilize their own taper lock bushing designs which differ from the generic "QD" design.
  • Taper lock sprockets are a type of sprocket that use a tapered bushing and flange system to provide a secure, easy-to-install locking mechanism on a shaft, allowing for flexibility in bore size without replacing the entire sprocket.
  • They are used for power transmission via roller chains in various machinery.
  • The design, which includes a split through the taper and flange, allows for faster and easier fitting onto a shaft and simple removal using jackscrews.
  • Taper lock sprockets can accommodate different shaft diameters simply by changing the accompanying taper lock bushing, eliminating the need to purchase a new sprocket for every bore size.
  • When installed, the tapered bushing compresses onto the shaft, ensuring a tight and firm grip and improved centering compared to other systems.
