"Browning®" profile sheaves and sprockets were originally created by the Browning® Manufacturing Company, currently owned by Regal Rexnord, which utilize their own taper lock bushing designs which differ from the generic "QD" design.
This special sprocket is designed to accept two single strand roller chains where the chains travel in opposite directions (i.e. powered conveyor line with multiple rollers).
The design, which includes a split through the taper and flange, allows for faster and easier fitting onto a shaft and simple removal using jackscrews.
Taper lock sprockets can accommodate different shaft diameters simply by changing the accompanying taper lock bushing, eliminating the need to purchase a new sprocket for every bore size.
When installed, the tapered bushing compresses onto the shaft, ensuring a tight and firm grip and improved centering compared to other systems.
