Brass wood screws, besides being desirable for decorative applications, are ideal for joining two pieces of wood or for repair. Brass square drive wood screws have cut threads and a full-body diameter shank. The smooth shank allows the screw to pull two pieces of wood together for a tight join, while preventing the wood from pulling or splitting. Unlike rolled thread screws with reduced shanks, the shank diameter of our brass wood screws is the same diameter as the outside of the threads. This feature provides a sealing action as the screw is driven into the wood. Brass is one of the softest materials used in screw manufacturing, therefore pre-drilling a pilot hole is recommended. The square drive allows more torque and minimize rounding out the recess compared to the more traditional Phillips or Slot drives. Also available in zinc plated steel for interior projects and stainless steel for exterior applications where corrosion resistance is required.
