DIY Heavy Duty Chain Swivel

Posted by Reid on 2018 Oct 5th

One of our customers at Prairie Bearing & Bolt took it upon himself to build/fabricate his own chain swivel after finding out the price of a manufactured unit was over $1700.00 and weeks away...With our help, the customer purchased the following items and crafted this marvel in his workshop in short order for under 115.00!

Timken HM89440/HM89410 tapered bearing set (1 set)

1" UNC forged steel eye bolt (1)

1" UNC forged steel eye nut (1)

1-1/4 x 7" grade 8 UNC bolt (1)

1-1/4 F436 flat washer (1)

SF-4048-24 sintered bronze bushing (1)

5/8 UNF set screws (4)

He later machined the body from a piece of 4140 round shafting he had in his own personal inventory.
